Eye Wrinkles
Eye Wrinkles are the unsightly lines that erupt from the corner of your eyes, claiming the real estate around and under your eyes as theirs. In technical terms, a wrinkle is a fold, ridge or crease in the skin. Eye wrinkles happen as a part of the natural aging process.
Eye Wrinkles Are Caused by the Following Factors
*Habitual facial expressions. This can mean many things. Laughing, for instance, is a habitual facial expression. Of course, who is going to avoid laughing so they can avoid wrinkles later in life? It’s just a factor we have to deal with. However, squinting is a factor you can address at an early age that is a MAJOR factor in developing wrinkles. Often times we squint due to the sun. This can be confronted by wearing eye protection, such as sunglasses. Also, some of us squint due to poor vision. Correcting this vision, whether it be by Lasik Surgery or simply wearing bifocals, is a must if you want to avoid squinting.
*Sun Damage. This factor can be controlled to an extent. Of course, those of you living in a warm, tropical climate can not avoid the sun altogether. However, you can prevent sun damage by always wearing a high spf formula on your skin and under your eyes. It’s recommend for anyone over the age of 30 to apply an under eye cream or under eye serum before exposure to the sun. For those of you who may live up north, you can’t count out wrinkles just because you aren’t exposed to the sun as much as people in other climates. When you do visit somewhere much closer to the equator, chances are your skin is more on the pale side, and you will have to ensure you cover your skin with sunblock that much more than people who are more accustomed to this type of sun exposure. Lastly, a major tip to prevent eye wrinkles is to wear sunglasses when around the sun. Most people take this for granted as they drive around and have the sun beaming through their front windshield of their vehicle. Sunglasses deflect UV-rays in other directions and keep them away from your precious under-eye area.
*Smoking. This is 100% avoidable. Don’t smoke if you care about your skin. Wrinkles, both eye wrinkles and facial wrinkles, are drastically accelerated if you smoke. Think about the Marlboro Man. Does he have nice skin on his face? No, they always show him riding a horse in the mountains with weathered skin and a cowboy hat. He’s a rough guy, and that’s his image. I challenge people out there to find us a 30 year smoker with perfect skin. It simply does not happen. Smoking is terrible for your skin. Not only is the action of smoking bad as well as it’s ingredients, but it also causes you to squint and make a habitual facial expression each time you light up, which was touched on in the above paragraph.
*Poor Hydration. Water is the key to your bodies system. Much like your body needs water to run properly and stay active, your skin needs to be hydrated properly as well. The moisture that hydration provides keeps your skin firm and smooth. It also helps it to not dry out. Dry skin is more prone to wrinkle and suffer from natural elements that age the skin.
*Wind and other extreme weather. If you are a skiier of any form, whether downhill, cross country, or slalom, you need to double up on anti-aging creams and moisturizers. The wind is a major factor in causing eye wrinkles and other facial wrinkles. If you find yourself exposed to extreme winds from an outdoor activity, you must take preventative measures. The extreme heat and extreme cold are also factors in developing eye wrinkles, but not to the extent of wind.
