What I Think About Eye Cream Reviews
Sometimes I read eye cream reviews and just think to myself “did this person even try this eye cream?”
The more I looked into it, the more I realized that no, they did not try the eye cream they are talking about on their web page……let me explain……
The Internet is full of people out there who participate in something called “affiliate marketing.” Affiliate marketing is basically a way that a manufacturer can wholesale their products via a number of websites out there. The people that mention the products on their website are called “affiliates.” These same people share in a piece of the sale when a sale is made that they were responsible in generating. Let me explain further…..
An affiliate uses a website in the same way a gas station uses it’s location to sell gas and groceries – it uses the demographics and location of the website to monetize the business and make the most money. That said, if someone has a website that is all about “wrinkles” or “puffy eyes” and for one reason or another it ranks high in search engines like Google, they can leverage that virtual real estate and make money by listing products that may interest their viewers. It’s essentially a product pitch page, an endorsement, if you will. Did you know that when these affiliates are responsible for sales to a manufacturer, they receive hefty commissions? It’s true.
For this reason, I spent the better part of the last 8 years believing everything I read on the web. I would stumble into a website, read about a product, see that it was talked about in a high regard, and I would purchase. I believe that every eye cream review was an honest one. My, how things have changed.
I set up this website to provide an unbiased, non-affiliated (non-paid, in other words) opinion on what I think is the best eye cream. Consumers out there can learn from my mistakes and save a couple bucks in the process. I have made it my goal to educate consumers one by one. If this site reaches one person, I feel that my time was well spent and my mission was accomplished.
That said, be careful out there when you are reading the many eye cream reviews you are certain to stumble into.
